Group Counseling

Group counseling is a form of treatment in which several individuals meet with one or more counselors. These members form a support group where they can learn from the experiences of others and offer advice.

Individuals experiencing a mental health challenge or problem behavior can feel isolated, and group counseling can help the individual by providing peers who are experiencing the same challenges or who have recovered from these challenges.

Support Groups

Support groups bring together people who are going through or have gone through similar experiences. For example, this common ground might be cancer, chronic medical conditions, addiction, loss, or caregiving.

Better Family Foundation’s support groups provide an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies, and receive emotional support.

School Site Counseling

• Prevention
• Intervention
• Mentoring

Having the opportunity to work through emotional problems with a caring and compassionate counselor makes all the difference to a young person struggling to find their way, helps keep suspensions down, keeps students from dropping out, and promotes healthier lifestyle choices.

In partnership with the Livermore Unified School District, Better Family Foundation provides pro bono individual and group counseling services on-site to students in Livermore. Students are referred by school staff and concerned parents.
